Tools and Methods used for Animation

Why did they use tools?

The tools are used to speed up the animation process. And to furthermore enhance the animation quality and art style.

Paper & Pencil

Paper and pencil are one of the most common tools used to make animations. It was easier for the artists/ animators to flip from frame to frame to have better visualization.

Tablet and stylus pen

The tablet and smart pen offers a more precise and clean animation. It’s easier to manipulate from 2D to 3D animation. It also allows the animators to speed up the process of making the animations.

Puppets and clay figures

The tools used for stop motion are puppets and clay figures. With each frame taken, they move the puppets . They would photograph the puppets while moving them to have an outcome of a stop motion animation.

Softwares/ Apps

The animators not only need their tablets and smart pens, but they also need a software to use to create these wonderful animations. The types of softwares can range from 3D to CGI to 2D.

CGI Animations

As the animations improve and become more realistic, we start to use CGI to bring the characters to life. CGI which stands for “Computer Generated Imagery” enhance the visuals of images by mixing both 2D and 3D into one animation.
